About Blue Future
Blue Future is building a diverse youth movement that inspires, mobilizes and invests in young people to organize for a brighter tomorrow. We envision a world where no matter our color or origin, our income or zip code, desire and determination are the only things getting in the way of young people’s ability to push for a transformative and progressive agenda.
Our Mission: To continuously engage, mobilize, and connect young people across race and place to progressive campaigns, equipping them with the resources, tools, skills, and network to be effective volunteers, organizers, and community leaders.
Through our Organize for Democracy Program and Youth Power Fund, we invest in the leadership, strategy, and infrastructure of youth organizers across the country to drive civic engagement, voter turnout, and long-term political power for progressive candidates.
We strongly encourage people of color, immigrants, women, transgender and non-binary people, and people with disabilities to apply.
Position Overview
The Program Director will lead Blue Future’s Organize for Democracy Program and Youth Power Fund as a strategic partner to the Co-Founders, executing high-impact initiatives to build and sustain a national network of progressive youth organizers.
This role is responsible for cultivating deep, trust-based relationships with youth organizers and organizations across the U.S., growing partnerships with youth-led civic engagement organizations, and ensuring that our grantmaking and organizing infrastructure is responsive, scalable, and rooted in the leadership of young people.
This is a contract-based, high-autonomy role for an organizer who thrives in collaborative, fast-paced environments and is committed to building power from the ground up — in partnership with Blue Future’s Co-Founders.
Key Responsibilities
Relationship Building & Network Development
- Conduct one-on-one meetings with youth organizers across the U.S. to understand their needs, challenges, and strategic goals.
- Build and steward relationships with national, state, and local youth-led civic engagement organizations — including but not limited to youth voter registration groups, campus organizing clubs, and BIPOC-led & Queer grassroots organizations.
- Serve as a trusted liaison between Blue Future and our partner organizations, ensuring alignment, transparency, and mutual accountability.
Program Strategy & Implementation
- Lead the design, execution, and evaluation of the Organize for Democracy Program, ensuring that our organizing infrastructure is responsive, scalable, and rooted in the leadership of young people, with a focus on building relationships with every organizer who is a part of the program.
- Oversee the Youth Power Fund — including grantmaking strategy, application review, grantee support, and impact measurement — with a focus on funding organizations led by and for diverse young people.
- Work closely with Co-Founders to develop and implement training, coaching, technical assistance, and peer-learning opportunities for grantee organizations and network partners to strengthen their organizing capacity.
Strategic Collaboration with Co-Founders
- Work closely with Blue Future’s Co-Founders to align program strategy with organizational vision and priorities.
- Provide regular updates, strategic recommendations, and actionable feedback to Co-Founders to ensure program effectiveness and adaptability.
Movement Building & Strategic Alignment
- Contribute to the development of Blue Future’s long-term vision for youth organizing — including policy advocacy, electoral strategy, and movement infrastructure.
- Represent Blue Future at convenings, movement spaces, and partner meetings to raise visibility for our programs and deepen strategic alignment.
What You Won’t Do
- Fundraise or manage donors
- Manage full-time staff, you’ll collaborate with youth organizers & volunteers
- Handle HR, payroll, or invoicing
You’ll Love This Role If You…
- Are a people person: Enjoy engaging with people, facilitating trainings, and having deep conversations about organizing.
- Thrive in ambiguity: you can design systems on the fly and adapt when the landscape shifts.
- Are a strategic connector: you know how to match people, resources, and ideas to create maximum impact.
- Are committed to centering the voice and experiences of Black, Indigenous, queer, trans, disabled, and rural youth in the progressive movement.
