Youth Power Fund

DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 7, 2020 AT 11:59 PM PST

ABOUT THE FUND

Research shows time and time again that early investments are crucial to increasing the number of people who vote in an election. This is especially true for young and new voters. It requires several authentic conversations to build relationships with new voters and talk about the agency the next generation has to impact the elections.

Ahead of the crucial 2020 election, Blue Future is thrilled to make early investments in youth organizing nationwide.

Blue Future’s 2020 Youth Power Fund is a first of its kind grant and fellowship opportunity for progressive student organizers. The goal of the Fund is to support student organizers with direct funding and community organizing training to unleash campus engagement in key Congressional districts for the 2020 election.

APPLYING

WHO CAN APPLY?

Any young person (ages 16-25) who supports progressive values and is ready to organize to help Democrats win in 2020 is invited to apply! We’re looking for young people who are connected to student organizations at their school and ready to work directly with candidates and campaigns to mobilize the youth vote on their campus and community.

WHAT IS THE APPLICATION PROCESS?

We have a 3-step application process:

  1. Students are invited to submit a Project Summary by February 7, 2020 at 11:59 pm PST through this link: bit.ly/2020YouthPowerFund
  2. After reviewing the Project Summaries, we will invite applicants to interview with our team between February 10-February 14 (so please have flexibility during those dates!)
  3. We will accept our first round of fellows on February 18 and then work closely with them to create comprehensive campus engagement plans. A sample plan can be found here.

FUNDING

HOW MUCH FUNDING CAN I RECEIVE?

We can fund up to $3,000 dollars per school/Congressional district.

Our vision is to pay up to a $1,000 stipend to compensate student organizers for the Spring semester, and $2,000 will be allocated for volunteer mobilization support like transportation and lodging into a key district, texting programs, food/snacks at weekly phone banks promotional materials, etc.

However, you know what works best for your school and community. So we are open to alternative budget proposals. Budgets are a key component of the Project Summary application.
