Honoring the 50th Anniversary of the 26th Amendment

July 1st, 2021 marks the 50th anniversary of the 26th Amendment which lowered the voting age to 18 years old from 21 years old. To honor this anniversary, Blue Future is hosting an art competition for young artists. With ongoing Republican attacks on our freedom to vote, young people must use our voice to highlight the importance of voting and strengthening our democracy. This is a turning point for our nation.

Through art and culture, we can help ensure that we can safely and freely cast our ballots, have our voices heard, and elect leaders who deliver on our priorities.

The theme of the competition is the importance of voting and civic engagement. Whatever our color, background or zip code, in America we value our freedom. When it comes to setting the rules for our lives, we want the freedom to vote in a transparent process we trust so we can elect leaders who deliver for us from creating jobs to providing affordable care.

Guiding questions to spur creativity:

What does democracy mean to you at this moment?

What does voting mean to you? Why do you vote?

What inspires your civic engagement in your community?
