Blue Future announces $10,000+ investment in student organizers

August 29, 2019 | Washington, D.C.

Ahead of state legislative and statewide races in Virginia, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Mississippi, Blue Future + the Youth Progressive Action Catalyst has strategically distributed over $10,000 to student organizers working to elect Democrats to state office!

Blue Future is committed to providing young people with the resources they need to make a difference in our political system. We believe the talented student organizers who are working on key state legislature, governor, and attorney general races will make a real difference in 2019.

Blue Future is a youth-led political action committee (PAC), focused on organizing young people around progressive electoral campaigns.

“If we want to see progressive change in these states that have historically been under invested, we need to make investments NOW, specifically in local youth organizers who are committed to reshaping the political landscape of their community. Our team at Blue Future could not be more excited to start working with student leaders in these key states to ensure young people are doing our part to help elect progressives to state office,” said Nick Guthman, Blue Future’s Executive Director.

Blue Future received 16 funding applications from student organizers across the four states. Students submitted campus engagement plans with budgets of up to $3,000. After interviewing the pool of applicants, assessing the competitiveness of each district, the Blue Future team is stoked to be supporting such talented, driven organizers.

This investment will help elect progressives to key statewide offices. While little may get done at the national level, statewide officeholders will have the power to expand voting rights, protect reproductive freedom, and devise policies to address the climate crisis. Over the next 3 months, Blue Future will continue to provide these students with funding, training, and leadership development.
