About Us

Blue Future is a youth-led civic engagement startup focused on organizing young people around progressive electoral campaigns. We’re on a mission to continuously engage, mobilize, and connect young people to progressive electoral campaigns, equipping them with the resources, tools, skills, and network to be effective volunteers, organizers, and public servants.

We believe young people have a responsibility to help elect candidates who will stand up for the values of the next generation, including bold action on climate change, racial justice, gun violence prevention, criminal justice reform, public + higher education, voting rights, equality and LGBTQ rights, women’s health, and health care for all.  

Young people helped make history in 2018 by electing the most progressive, diverse Congress in recent history. Blue Future helped elect 17 new Democrats to Congress and we know that investing in youth organizing is part of the winning strategy for the Democratic Party. Social Media + Design Internship

Blue Future is looking to hire a Social Media + Design Intern. After successfully piloting a national, youth-led organizing program, Blue Future is excited to scale our work ahead of the 2020 elections. The Social Media + Design Intern will assist in developing new strategies to reach youth activists online and innovate on our approach to digitally organize and mobilize young progressives for the 2020 election cycle.

The Social Media + Design Intern will have flexibility in how they approach the work and have the unique opportunity to shape the goals, strategy, and achievements of a cutting-edge civic engagement start up.

Responsibilities

  • Compose digital content, which will be used on social media, websites, email campaigns, and ads
  • Co-manage Blue Future’s social media assets alongside the rest of the team
  • Create design solutions to promote the Blue Future brand
  • Edit short videos and gifs
  • Create compelling, digital-first, content graphics and creative representations for:
    • Voter Registration
    • Attending campaign events
    • Promoting grassroots organizing/electoral trainings from partner organizations
    • Phone banking
    • Canvassing (knocking on doors)
    • Get Out The Vote (GOTV) events

Skills

  • A commitment to social justice and progressive politics
  • Possession of creative flair, versatility, conceptual/visual ability and originality
  • Ability to interact, communicate and present political ideas to a broad audience
  • Up to date with some industry leading software and technologies (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc)
  • Confidence navigating uncertainty
  • Self-starter, ready to guide your own projects

Hours Per Week

We’re flexible but ideally we’d like you to work at least 10-20 hours per week, for at least a 10 week commitment. Work can be done remotely from anywhere in the world. Hours do not have to be during regular business hours and we will gladly accommodate any academic requirements.

This positions can be full-time.

Stipend

Blue Future pays a stipend of $100 per month dependent on schedule to offset expenses associated with the internship.
